President William Ruto has announced plans to revive the stalled 157-kilometre Modogashe-Samatar Road project with World Bank support.
President William Ruto made the announcement on May 31 while speaking in Habaswein town, Wajir County. He said the project, previously under an annuity programme, would now proceed with backing from the World Bank.
Ruto outlined a clear timeline. The Ministry of Roads and Transport will begin stakeholder consultations in June. Procurement and competitive tenders are scheduled for July. The president stated he will return to the region in August to launch the project.
The 157-kilometre road aims to improve connectivity and trade for residents of Wajir County. Ruto described the initiative as addressing long-standing marginalisation in Northern Kenya.
