A joint administrative inquiry has been launched to identify possible failures in handling prior complaints against Jérôme B., the suspect in the abduction of 11-year-old Lyhanna in the Gers.
Lyhanna was last seen on May 29 in Fleurance getting into the car of Jérôme B., 41, the father of one of her friends. The suspect has been charged with sequestration after investigators deemed his statements incoherent.
Several prior complaints of rape or sexual assault target the man. An August 2025 complaint for rape of a minor had not progressed. A 2022 complaint, dismissed without follow-up, will be reviewed, and a new complaint was filed on June 3.
The interior and justice ministers announced an inquiry assigned to the General Inspectorate of Justice and the General Inspectorate of the National Gendarmerie. Searches for the schoolgirl continue in the Gers.
