The delay, which was rumored in January to avoid clashing with the release of Bungie's upcoming extraction shooter Marathon, stems from the need for “large revisions” and sizable quality-of-life updates. Additional details, including a previously announced weapons-tier upgrade and other enhancements, will be shared closer to release.
This announcement comes amid reports of Destiny 2's player count continuing to decline, a trend noted by observers. Despite the postponement, Bungie emphasized that routine fixes and stability improvements will proceed throughout June. Players can also expect continued portal modifiers, the Guardian Games event in March, and a more frequent Iron Bar Cadence returning in April.

Furthermore, crossovers between Destiny 2 and Marathon include rewards for pre-ordering Marathon, such as new cosmetics, Sparrows, Ships, shaders, and emotes for Destiny 2 players.
