DCP candidate Sammy Kamau Ngotho won the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election held on July 16 with 35,440 votes against the UDA candidate's 5,450.
The by-election took place on Thursday, July 16, with results announced by the IEBC the following day. Ngotho defeated his closest rival by more than 30,000 votes, while other candidates received very few votes.
ELOG reported KIEMS device failures at some stations and security incidents that required police to use tear gas. The group called for an audit of the system.
The win has strengthened Rigathi Gachagua and the DCP's position in the Mt Kenya region ahead of the 2027 election, as UDA leaders acknowledged the loss in their former stronghold.
