Insomniac Games has revealed that its upcoming PS5 exclusive, Marvel's Wolverine, will launch on September 15, 2026. The announcement came via a social media post on February 24, 2026, surprising fans after the game skipped a recent PlayStation State of Play event. This date positions the title ahead of Grand Theft Auto 6's November release.
Marvel's Wolverine, developed by Insomniac Games in partnership with PlayStation Studios and Marvel Games, was first announced in 2021 with a cinematic teaser during a State of Play livestream. A gameplay trailer followed in September 2025, showcasing fast-paced combat, gory violence, and the character's adamantium claws and mutant regeneration abilities. The game establishes a fall 2026 release window, now narrowed to September 15, 2026, as confirmed by PlayStation's official X account.
“Let’s cut to the chase: Marvel’s Wolverine launches September 15, 2026,” Insomniac wrote on social media.
This marks the studio's fourth Marvel title, following Spider-Man, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Spider-Man 2, but it begins a new trilogy separate from the Spider-Man series. Insomniac senior community manager Aaron Jason Espinoza described the project as delivering "the ultimate Wolverine fantasy, with fast, fluid, and ferocious combat; exhilarating, action-packed set pieces, and a gripping story that taps into the core tenets of one of the most compelling comic book characters of all-time."
The Logan/Wolverine character will be voiced by Liam McIntyre. Fans can wishlist the game now on the PlayStation Store, with pre-orders expected closer to launch. The timing avoids overlap with Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto 6, set for November 19, 2026, allowing both blockbusters space in the fall schedule.
Insomniac had previously indicated more details in spring 2026, following a vague social media post in late 2025. The game's development originated as an internal project during work on Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, led by directors Brian Horton and Cameron Christian.
