Kawasaki launches 2026 KLE500 adventure bike

Kawasaki has introduced the 2026 KLE500, reviving a historic name in the booming A2-compliant adventure bike segment. The model blends approachable performance with rally-inspired styling, targeting new riders in a competitive market. It will be available in the UK from March 2026, starting at £5,999.

The 2026 Kawasaki KLE500 enters a crowded field of lightweight adventure motorcycles, where such models account for 45 percent of Kawasaki's sales in Europe. This revival draws on the KLE name's legacy from production runs between 1991 and 1997, and 2005 and 2007, positioning it as one of the most authentic options in the A2 category.

Kawasaki unveiled the bike during a press event in Almeria, Spain, featuring rides on mountain roads and in the Tabernas Desert. The lineup includes a standard version at £5,999 and an SE variant at £6,599, with added features like a larger screen, LED indicators, and a TFT dash. Accessory packs extend prices up to £7,699 for configurations such as Rally and Adventure Tourer.

Powered by a remapped 451cc parallel-twin engine from the Z500 and Ninja 500 ranges, it delivers 45 horsepower at 9,000 rpm and 42.6 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm, ensuring full A2 compliance. Other specifications include a 16-litre fuel tank, 21-inch front wheel, 43mm non-adjustable forks with 210mm travel, a preload-adjustable KYB rear shock, and a 300mm front disc with twin-piston Nissin caliper. The standard model's kerb weight is 194kg, rising to 195kg for the SE, with an 870mm seat height aided by a slim waist for better accessibility.

On the road, the engine revs eagerly with a lightweight flywheel, though it buzzes above 6,500 rpm. The trellis frame and low-slung motor provide stable handling and a low center of gravity, but ground clearance limits aggressive off-road use. Electronics are basic, lacking riding modes or traction control, with two-channel ABS that deactivates both wheels only when stationary—a point of criticism for adventure suitability.

Reviewers note its unintimidating nature for novices, fun on twisty roads, and capability for light trails, though experienced riders may find the power modest. In a segment featuring rivals like the BMW F450 GS and CFMoto 450MT, the KLE500 emphasizes affordability and ease over advanced tech.
