On Friday, 27 February 2026, experienced five-star event rider Louisa Milne Home, aged 46 and based in Kinross, Scotland, suffered a fall while warming up for a British Showjumping competition at Bogenraith Equestrian in Aberdeenshire. She was promptly taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, where she is reported to be in a stable condition.
A statement posted on Milne Home's Facebook page provided an update: “As many of you are aware Louisa suffered a fall on Friday whilst competing at Bogenraith. Louisa remains in a stable condition at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary under the very best of care. We will update on this page as and when we have more information. Louisa’s family truly appreciate each and every message of concern and offer of help at this time.”
British Showjumping issued a confirmation of the incident, noting it happened during the warm-up phase. Their statement read: “Our thoughts are with Louisa, her family and friends at this time, and everyone at British Showjumping, together with the team at Bogenraith Equestrian, wish her a full and speedy recovery.”
Milne Home is well-known in the equestrian community for her long-term partnership with the horse King Eider, affectionately called Duck. The duo achieved several notable results at top-level events, including completions at Badminton Horse Trials three times and Burghley Horse Trials four times. Their strongest performances were 27th places at Burghley in 2013 and 2014, as well as 19th at Luhmühlen Horse Trials in 2011.
Following Duck's retirement after the 2019 Badminton, Milne Home has continued competing at levels up to four-star. In the previous season, she rode Twisted Girl Z in British Eventing grassroots classes and Future Plans in events up to two-star, securing second place in the CCI2*-S at Belsay with the latter.
