Baja California Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda confirmed she held a conversation with people who presented themselves as US agents, though they did not formally accredit their representation.
In an official statement, the state governor explained that during the exchange various legal scenarios were raised, but without presenting documents or identifications to support the claims. She indicated that any matter of that nature must be handled through institutional channels and in accordance with the law.
Marina del Pilar rejected interpretations derived from isolated fragments of the leaked audios. She stated she remains calm and willing to address formal requests from competent authorities.
The governor also confirmed that her legal representative is lawyer Michael Nadler, a former federal prosecutor in Miami specialized in corruption and money laundering cases. She emphasized that security cooperation with the United States takes place through official institutional mechanisms.
