PLAVE announces April 7 comeback after PLBBUU success

Virtual K-pop group PLAVE is set to release a new mini-album on April 7, following the massive success of their previous release PLBBUU. The album sold 1.095 million copies in its first week, earning triple platinum certification. This marks another milestone for the group as the first virtual act to sell out Seoul's Gocheok Sky Dome.

PLAVE, the five-member virtual K-pop group consisting of Yejun, Noah, Bamby, Eunho, and Hamin, will return on April 7 with a new mini-album. The announcement comes four months after their record-breaking album PLBBUU, which sold approximately 1.095 million copies in its first week according to the Hanteo Music Chart. This debut week set a new record for virtual idols and led to triple platinum certification from the Korea Music Content Association (KMCA). PLBBUU also topped the Circle Album Chart, with the POCA edition debuting at number one and the standard version staying in the top five.

Building on prior achievements, PLAVE's third mini-album Caligo Pt. 1 in 2025 became the first by a virtual act to sell a million copies in seven days. It garnered 11 million streams on Melon within 24 hours, entering the service's "Billions Club." Their DASH - Quantum Leap Asia Tour made history as the first virtual performance to sell out the 20,000-seat Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul.

Globally, PLAVE has charted on the Billboard Global 200, with DASH entering at No. 195 in February 2025 and BBUU! at No. 170, while also topping the Billboard Korean Hot 100. The group ranks among the top ten 4th-generation K-pop boy groups internationally, with around 1.15 million monthly Spotify listeners. Industry insiders describe their latest project as an "expanded narrative universe," incorporating immersive technology and creative input from all members in music, composition, dance, and design. Market observers note that PLAVE's success highlights a shift in K-pop, showing digital-native talent can achieve comparable enthusiasm and financial impact to human artists.
