President Claudia Sheinbaum called a DEA statement on alleged links between officials and organized crime unfortunate and political.
During the morning conference on July 15, Sheinbaum responded to statements by DEA head Terry Cole, who pointed to a deadly connection between criminal organizations and corrupt officials.
The president said the declaration lacks foundation and that the DEA has more work to attend to in the United States.
Sheinbaum noted that the agency's words coincided with the presentation of a security report showing a decrease in homicides in the country.
