The Madison TV series announces March 2026 premiere on Paramount+

Taylor Sheridan's new drama The Madison will premiere on Paramount+ on March 14, 2026, with three episodes, followed by the remaining three the next week. The series stars Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell as a New York City family relocating to Montana's Madison River valley after a tragedy. It explores themes of grief and human connection in a standalone story set near Yellowstone's world.

The Madison, created by Taylor Sheridan, marks a departure from the rugged narratives of his Yellowstone universe, focusing instead on emotional healing. According to the official logline, the series follows "a heartfelt study of grief and human connection" for a multi-generational New York family in central Montana's Madison River valley. Early reports suggested the plot involves the death of the matriarch's husband, though this detail remains unconfirmed.

Filming for the first season began in September 2024 and wrapped in December 2024, with locations including Dallas and Fort Worth standing in for New York City and Montana landscapes. Pfeiffer was announced as the lead in August 2024, joined later by Russell in September 2025 as her on-screen husband, Preston Clyburn. The cast also includes Patrick J. Adams as investment banker Russell McIntosh, Elle Chapman as his wife Paige, Beau Garrett as daughter Abigail Reese, and Matthew Fox as Preston's brother Paul.

Supporting roles feature Amiah Miller and Alaina Pollack as Abigail's daughters, Kevin Zegers as neighbor Cade, Danielle Vasinova as Kestrel, Ben Schnetzer as rancher Van, Rebecca Spence as Liliana, and Will Arnett as Pfeiffer's character's therapist. Director Christina Alexandra Voros, who also worked on Yellowstone, described the project in a November 2024 Variety interview: "It's such a different story. The common ground is the landscape. We are in Montana, but it is seen through a completely different lens."

Russell revealed in an Entertainment Weekly interview that production advanced to film a second season back-to-back, following discussions with Paramount+. "Michelle Pfeiffer and Taylor were able to get together with the people at Paramount+ and said, 'Well, let's do two seasons instead of just one,'" he said. Chapman echoed this on Instagram in December 2024.

Originally developed as a Yellowstone spin-off titled 2024 with potential involvement from Matthew McConaughey, The Madison evolved into a standalone series. It shares Montana's Paradise Valley proximity but differs tonally from Yellowstone, which concluded with the Dutton ranch partly restored as tribal land.
