Thomas Gottschalk has announced in an interview with Bild newspaper that his latest PET scan showed no remaining cancer cells in his body.
The 76-year-old presenter said he was glad about this news. He continues to attend check-ups every three months but currently requires no medication.
Gottschalk had publicly disclosed his diagnosis of a rare malignant tumor in November 2025. At that time he had already undergone two operations followed by chemotherapy.
His wife Karina Gottschalk reported that he participates in a research group at the University Children's Hospital Greifswald. The clinic is developing a vaccine against tumor cells because this type of cancer occurs particularly often in children.
The doctors no longer venture a prognosis on a possible return of the cancer and describe his development as a miracle.
