Ultraviolette introduces BaaS model slashing X-47 price by 40%

Ultraviolette Automotive has launched a Battery as a Service (BaaS) pricing model for its X-47 electric adventure motorcycle, reducing the upfront cost to Rs 1.49 lakh plus a monthly subscription starting at Rs 2,499. This move aims to make electric mobility more affordable in India. The company partnered with Ecofy for this initiative, marking a first among major electric motorcycle providers.

Ultraviolette Automotive Pvt Ltd, a provider of premium electric mobility solutions, has introduced the 'Battery Flex' BaaS pricing for its X-47 electric ADV motorcycle. Previously launched at Rs 2.49 lakh (ex-showroom) with full battery ownership, the new model drops the base price to Rs 1.49 lakh, a 40% reduction of about Rs 1 lakh, excluding the battery rental.

Under the BaaS plan, customers pay a subscription fee starting from Rs 2,499 per month after the initial purchase. This covers a minimum of 1,000 km monthly, with rates ranging from Rs 2.5 to Rs 4.8 per km, varying by variant. The partnership with Ecofy enables this model, and at the end of the subscription period, battery ownership transfers to the customer at no extra cost. The battery pack comes with a five-year warranty.

The X-47 features two battery options: a 7.1 kWh pack offering 211 km of range and a 10.3 kWh pack providing up to 323 km. It delivers 40.2 bhp peak power and reaches a top speed of 145 km/h. A standout element is its industry-first radar-based ADAS suite.

Narayan Subramaniam, CEO and co-founder of Ultraviolette, stated: "At ₹2.5 lakh, Ultraviolette was at price parity with similarly powered ICE motorcycles. Now, with a starting price of ₹1.5 lakh, riders gain access to better technology, features, and performance that outpaces every segment. With operating costs as low as ₹2499 per month, which is lesser than the average spends on petrol, we are redefining what affordability means in motorcycling. The introduction of Battery Flex makes performance, technology-driven mobility more attainable and practical for riders across India, while keeping the focus firmly on what matters most: the thrill of riding an Ultraviolette."
