A 36-year-old Wisconsin man has been charged with first-degree intentional homicide after allegedly stabbing his 75-year-old grandmother to death and fleeing to Utah. Randy Jenks confessed to family members and police about the incident, citing that she had pushed him too far. He was arrested without incident in Ogden, Utah, and awaits extradition.
On Sunday, deputies from the Waushara County Sheriff's Office in Wisconsin responded to a welfare check at the home of 75-year-old Patricia Mae Glenn in the Town of Mount Morris. The call came from Glenn's granddaughter at around 7:44 p.m. Inside the residence, officers found Glenn lying in a pool of blood and pronounced her dead at the scene.
Investigators learned from the granddaughter, who is also the sister of suspect Randy Jenks, that Jenks had contacted family members claiming responsibility for the stabbing. Jenks, 36, had been living with his grandmother for about a year and was reportedly struggling with mental health issues. The family believed he had fled to Ogden, Utah, to stay with an aunt.
During a phone call with his sister, Jenks stated, "I stabbed Grandma in the living room, on the floor." He later told his mother that he had stabbed Glenn in the neck and left the state "because he was scared." Upon his arrest by Ogden City Police on March 8 at the aunt's home, Jenks admitted to the act and said Glenn had "pushed him too far."
Jenks faces charges of first-degree intentional homicide and remains in custody in Utah, with extradition to Waushara County pending. No court date has been set.
