Civil Police arrested Thiago da Silva Santos, known as Lafado, one of the main leaders of Comando Vermelho in Maricá, on Thursday, July 23.
The approach took place while the man crossed the Rio-Niterói bridge heading from Maricá to the Fallet community in Santa Teresa, in the state capital. Thiago has more than 30 criminal records, including drug trafficking association, homicide, torture and robbery. He was serving an arrest warrant for a sentence of more than 17 years.
The Specialized Police Station for Weapons, Ammunition and Explosives carried out intelligence work for two months. According to the corporation, Thiago was responsible for several drug sales points in the Santa Teresa community.
The trafficker had already been arrested four times, the last in 2022, in a luxury restaurant in Niterói. After leaving the prison system, he returned to command drug trafficking in Maricá and became a fugitive from justice.
