Paraná Civil Police placed a man in preventive custody in Francisco Beltrão after he was recorded kicking his 3-year-old daughter. The inquiry uncovered signs of prior assaults on his 5-year-old stepson.
The suspect was detained on Thursday, 9 July, one day after giving a statement. He confessed to the kick, saying the child was crying, yet claimed he could not recall every detail.
The inquiry found facial injuries on the boy, possibly inflicted with a belt or piece of wood, weeks earlier. Delegate Anderson Andrei Grosso stressed the record of violence against both children.
Security camera footage captured the street assault. The mother filed a police report after viewing the recordings. The girl underwent a forensic medical exam whose report remains pending.
Urgent protective measures were requested for the mother and children. Civil Police continue to determine the full scope of the incidents.
