Felix Auger-Aliassime defeated Adrian Mannarino 6-3, 7-6(4) to successfully defend his Open Occitanie title in Montpellier on February 8, 2026. The victory marks his ninth ATP title and surpasses Milos Raonic for the most tour-level titles by a Canadian man in the Open Era. Auger-Aliassime's strong indoor performance came after retiring from the Australian Open due to cramps.
Felix Auger-Aliassime rediscovered his form on indoor courts by clinching back-to-back Open Occitanie titles, becoming only the second man to defend the Montpellier crown after Richard Gasquet in 2015-16. In the final against veteran Frenchman Adrian Mannarino, the 25-year-old Canadian started aggressively, winning the first eight points to seize control. He broke serve twice in the opening set for a 6-3 win, then held firm in a tight second set that went to a tie-break.
From 2-4 down in the tie-break, Auger-Aliassime won five straight points to secure the match in one hour and 35 minutes. He fired 13 aces and converted 87% of his first-serve points, leading their head-to-head 2-1. His path to the title included victories over Stan Wawrinka, Arthur Fils, and Titouan Droguet.
This triumph elevated Auger-Aliassime to No. 6 in the ATP rankings and highlighted his dominance in indoor events, with 89 tour-level indoor wins this decade—more than any other player. Reflecting on his career, he said, “I’m progressing normally in a tennis player’s career. I’ve won several ATP 250s, some ATP 500s, and as my career advances, I aim to take that next step. I want to win some Masters 1000 and Grand Slam titles.” He added, “I hope to achieve this within this year. I feel I’ve improved in terms of tennis, but also in terms of physical preparation.”
Following his Australian Open retirement against Nuno Borges, Auger-Aliassime heads to the ABN AMRO Open in Rotterdam as a top seed, facing Alexei Popyrin in the first round. The event has seen withdrawals from Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev, and Jack Draper.
