President Lee Jae Myung appointed Vice Budget Minister Lim Ki-keun as the new minister of the Office for Government Policy Coordination on July 10, replacing Yoon Chang-ryeol.
Lim, an expert in the budget field, previously served as chief of the Public Procurement Service and held various senior positions at the Ministry of Finance and Economy. A Cheong Wa Dae official told a press briefing that the appointment draws on Lim’s experience coordinating complex economic policies.
Seong Ghi-hong, senior presidential secretary for public relations and communication, said Yoon Chang-ryeol offered to step down because it was fitting for Prime Minister Han Seong-sook to work with a new minister following her inauguration on July 1. Yoon reportedly offered his resignation before the appointment was announced.
The Office for Government Policy Coordination assists the prime minister. The move comes after Han’s inauguration on July 1.
