Migrants continue arriving at Musina repatriation centre

Thousands of undocumented immigrants are arriving at the Musina repatriation centre in Limpopo for processing and repatriation. Several buses reached the centre early on Friday morning from various parts of South Africa.

Home Affairs provincial manager Albert Matsaung said the number of people at the centre fluctuates constantly. Buses arrive and depart carrying migrants mostly from Malawi and Zimbabwe.

Matsaung noted that the department works closely with the relevant embassies to ensure a smooth repatriation process. He said sizable numbers of people from both Malawi and Zimbabwe continue to arrive.

The manager added that information gathered across the country shows people are gathering in various areas before being transported to the centre. He mentioned arrivals from Durban, Sandton and the Western Cape the previous day.
