Powerleague starts building padel courts in Mill Hill

A leading football provider is expanding its offerings by constructing four new padel courts at its Mill Hill site. Powerleague, which already attracts over 4,500 weekly participants for various football activities, aims to introduce the racket sport to more players in the area. The courts are expected to open later this summer.

Powerleague has begun construction on four padel courts at its facility in Mill Hill, north London. The company, known for providing football sessions including 5-a-side, 7-a-side, and 9-a-side matches as well as bubble football, is branching out to include padel, a sport that blends elements of tennis and squash. This move follows the introduction of padel at some of Powerleague's other UK locations, capitalizing on the sport's rising popularity.

The Mill Hill site currently sees more than 4,500 people participating in football activities each week. The addition of padel courts is intended to broaden the venue's multi-sport appeal, accommodating players of all ages and skill levels. John Gillespie, CEO of Powerleague, commented on the development: “We’re delighted to be expanding our offer at Mill Hill with new padel courts. Padel’s inclusive, social nature makes it a perfect fit for the multi-sport environment we’re building, giving more people the chance to enjoy one of the UK’s fastest growing sports in a welcoming, great value setting.”

He added: “With thousands already using Mill Hill each week, these courts will bring an exciting new way for the community to stay active, social and connected. We look forward to welcoming players onto the courts later this summer.”

This expansion reflects Powerleague's strategy to diversify its services and enhance community engagement through accessible sports options.
