Woman arrested with gun at Uribe event in Honda

A 29-year-old woman was arrested during a political rally in Honda, Tolima, for carrying a firearm at a Centro Democrático party event. The identified individual, Mónica Fernanda Joven Urbano, worked as a guard at a nearby prison. Police handed her over to the prosecutor's office for illegal possession of weapons.

The incident took place in José León Armero Park, in the Alto del Rosario sector of Honda, Tolima, during a Centro Democrático party rally. Mónica Fernanda Joven Urbano, 29 years old and holding an ID issued in Neiva, Huila, was apprehended by National Police officers while recording with her cell phone. A security search revealed a .22 caliber pistol, a magazine, and five ready-to-use cartridges, causing tension among those present.

According to officials, Joven Urbano joined the National Penitentiary and Prison Institute (Inpec) on November 3, 2017, through a public call. At the time, she served as a guard at La Esperanza prison in Guaduas, Cundinamarca.
