Disney's animated sequel Zootopia 2 will begin streaming on Disney+ on March 11. The film, a follow-up to the 2016 original, reunites voices Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman as Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde. It explores the duo's investigation into a secret reptile population in their city.
The announcement comes as Zootopia 2 transitions from theaters to home viewing. Released in theaters on Thanksgiving 2025, the movie quickly achieved significant box office success. It recorded the fourth-biggest global opening of all time and the largest global launch for an animated film. Additionally, it marked the highest global opening for an animated sequel.
Directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard, the sequel introduces new characters to the mammal metropolis of Zootopia. Returning stars include Ginnifer Goodwin as rabbit officer Judy Hopps and Jason Bateman as fox Nick Wilde. They team up to investigate the arrival of mysterious pit viper Gary De’Snake, voiced by Ke Huy Quan, which leads to uncovering a hidden reptile population.
The voice cast expands with Fortune Feimster as podcasting beaver Nibbles Maplestick, Andy Samberg as Pawbert Lynxley, David Strathairn as Milton Lynxley, Macaulay Culkin as Cattrick Lynxley, Brenda Song as Kitt Lynxley, Quinta Brunson as Dr. Fuzzby, Robert Irwin as Robert Furwin, and Patrick Warburton as Brian Winddancer, among others.
Financially, the film became a major hit, grossing $1.46 billion globally according to initial reports, though later figures indicate $1.85 billion worldwide in 2025. It also claimed the highest-grossing domestic release and the biggest international earner at $1.425 billion for the year. These records highlight its dominance in the 2025 box office.
Viewers can stream Zootopia 2 on Disney+ starting March 11.
