The BCCI's annual award ceremony, known as the Naman Awards, is scheduled for Sunday, March 15, in New Delhi. This event comes shortly after India's historic win in the T20 World Cup final on March 8, where the team defeated New Zealand by 96 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad to secure a third title and become the first to win two consecutive trophies in home conditions.
Rahul Dravid, a key figure in Indian cricket, will be conferred with the Col CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions as a player and coach. Dravid, part of the famed 'Big Four' batting line-up with Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, and VVS Laxman, played 164 Tests, scoring 13,288 runs at an average of 52.31, including 36 centuries. In ODIs, he accumulated 10,889 runs in 344 matches with 12 centuries. After retiring in 2012, Dravid coached the India Under-19 team to the 2018 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup title and served as head coach of the senior team from late 2021, leading them to the 2023 ODI World Cup final and the 2024 T20 World Cup victory. Current head coach Gautam Gambhir dedicated the recent T20 World Cup triumph to Dravid, stating, "I think I should dedicate this trophy to Rahul bhai. Because what Rahul bhai has done to keep Indian cricket in such a good shape, I have to thank him for everything he’s done during his tenure."
Shubman Gill, India's Test and ODI captain, is set to receive the Cricketer of the Year award, also known as the Polly Umrigar Award, according to multiple reports. Gill had a standout performance in his first series as Test captain during the 2025 tour of England. The award, started in the 2006-07 season, has been won by Virat Kohli a record five times, with Jasprit Bumrah as the most recent recipient.
Former India women's captain Mithali Raj is also slated to receive a lifetime honour. Additionally, Mumbai's Ayush Mhatre will be awarded the Lala Amarnath Award for the best all-rounder in domestic limited-overs cricket, and the Mumbai Cricket Association will be recognised as the best cricket association in domestic cricket.
