Chronicle Books and Sesame Workshop launch publishing partnership

Chronicle Books and Sesame Workshop have announced a multi-year collaboration to produce Sesame Street-themed children's books. The partnership will feature picture books and character-cut board books with beloved characters from the show. The first titles are set for release later this year.

Chronicle Books, a publishing house, and Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit organization behind Sesame Street, have entered into a multi-year publishing partnership. This collaboration aims to create a series of children's books featuring characters from the long-running educational television program.

The initial release, titled The Momster at the End of This Book, is scheduled for April 7. This picture book reimagines a story where little readers celebrate their mothers alongside Grover and other little monsters.

Another book, Elmo Checks In: How Is Everybody Doing?, will be available on October 27. It draws inspiration from Elmo's inquisitive post on X in January 2024, offering comforting insights and reassurance from the character to promote emotional well-being.

Looking ahead to next year, Chronicle Books plans to release two die-cut board books. An Elmo-shaped book is expected in the summer, followed by an Abby Cadabby-shaped book in the fall. Both will incorporate seek-and-find features, additional Sesame Street characters, and early learning concepts.

Brittany McInerney, Publishing Director for Art & Entertainment at Chronicle Books, stated: “This exciting collaboration between Chronicle Books and Sesame Workshop... highlights what we both do best — deliver stories filled with joy and laughter when the world needs it most. Sesame Street has created characters that are beloved by generations, so we are thrilled to bring Chronicle’s unique sense of humor to new books that will delight fans of all ages.”

Samantha Kennedy, Vice President of Marketing and Brand Strategy at Sesame Workshop, added: “For more than 55 years, Sesame Street has helped children and families navigate big feelings with warmth, humor, and heart. This new collaboration allows us to extend that mission in fresh, joyful ways — through books that celebrate caregivers, encourage emotional well-being, and invite readers of all ages to check in with themselves and one another.”

The partnership emphasizes stories that bring joy and address emotional needs, building on Sesame Street's legacy.
