The senator thanked residents for their support and highlighted her brother's dedication to the state. She described accepting the role as a continuation of family values, noting her background helping people with disabilities find employment.
Governor Henry McMaster appointed Nordone to complete Lindsey Graham's term following a recommendation from President Donald Trump. She became the first woman to represent South Carolina in the U.S. Senate and will serve until January 2027.
