The southwest monsoon or habagat is expected to weaken further over the long weekend for Independence Day on June 12, pointing to fairer weather across much of the Philippines, according to PAGASA.
PAGASA weather specialist Leanne Loreto said the habagat will continue to weaken tomorrow and affect only the western portion of Northern Luzon, where cloudy skies are expected. By Saturday until Monday, fair weather is expected across most areas. Loreto noted that other parts of the country, including Metro Manila, will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with warm and humid conditions on Thursday. Thunderstorms are expected in Eastern Visayas as well as Mindanao after midday. Sudden but brief rain showers due to thunderstorms remain possible over the weekend in the eastern part of Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. PAGASA reported no low-pressure area or tropical cyclone within the Philippine area of responsibility and issued no gale warnings.
