In the co-main event, 20-year-old Brazilian Cassia Moura faces 31-year-old Welsh star Ffion Davies for the inaugural UFC BJJ women's bantamweight championship. Moura, who moved to Midland, Texas in 2023 to train under Bruno Bastos, has a rapid rise, earning her black belt in June 2024 after three world championships in 12 months across gi and no-gi divisions. She previously competed in the UFC BJJ Bowl, securing decision wins over Talita Alencar and Alex Enriquez. "I’m super-excited for Thursday night, fighting against Ffion Davies," Moura said. "I know it’s really important for myself, but it’s special for the other girls too to show that if I can do it, they can do it as well."
Davies, a multiple-time IBJJF world champion in both gi and no-gi, enters her first UFC BJJ event grateful for the title shot. She trains at ARMA BJJ in London and anticipates an exciting matchup due to similar aggressive styles. "I thought I'd have to do a few more matches before I could get a title shot, so I’m really grateful for the opportunity," Davies noted. "Stylistically, we have quite similar styles, so I think it's gonna breed a really exciting match." She aims to balance tactics with risks to entertain while pursuing a submission, emphasizing the pressure on female athletes to perform. "I always want the submission, but at the same time, I want to show that I can dominate the match as well," she added.
In the main event, Mason Fowler defends his UFC BJJ light heavyweight title against Pedro Machado, avenging a 2021 IBJJF Worlds loss where Machado submitted him via armbar. Fowler, who won the belt at UFC BJJ 2, favors the Bowl for suiting his wrestling base. "The fact that if you're the person that's putting your forehead to forehead, and you're pushing forward, you're going to get rewarded for it," he explained. He plans to implement more wrestling this time, avoiding past errors like pulling guard prematurely. Post-victory, Fowler eyes bouts with Devhonte Johnson and Lucas Barbosa. "All that I want is to just give my personal best – that's it," he said.
