In the night of July 13 to 14, the tricolor flag on the Porte Vauban in Le Palais was torn down and replaced by a banner with a message hostile to France.
The town hall of Le Palais strongly condemned the act committed on the occasion of the national holiday. The message on the banner read: “Vive la France raciste et coloniale. Nique 2 Gaul”.
The municipality stated that this gesture does not constitute a debate and filed a complaint. It recalled that the tricolor flag is the national emblem recognized by the Constitution.
The elected officials invited the perpetrators to come forward to defend their arguments publicly and called for a respectful debate on the history of France.
