GameStop chief executive Ryan Cohen dismissed concerns over the end of physical video game discs in a Bloomberg interview. He described Sony's planned shift away from physical PlayStation games as irrelevant to the retailer.

Cohen stated the development “doesn’t matter at all” and is “totally, totally irrelevant.” The remarks came after Sony announced it would stop production of new physical PlayStation games starting in 2028.

GameStop has already reduced its reliance on game sales, which now represent 18 percent of revenue. Trading cards and toys account for 41 percent of its business.

Cohen also reiterated interest in acquiring eBay for around $55 billion, a proposal the company rejected in May. He suggested a combined entity could become a “$1 trillion business” and declined to comment on the November launch of Grand Theft Auto 6.
