Green Legacy plays major role in food security says Gambela official

Gambela region president Alemitu Umod said the Green Legacy program is playing a major role in ensuring food security beyond combating climate change.

The launch ceremony for the region's 2018 Green Legacy program was held in Majang Zone, Mengeshi Woreda.

The president stressed the need to strengthen natural resource development and protection work to ensure success in agricultural development. She noted that Green Legacy activities carried out in previous years achieved many successes, restored degraded areas and enabled increases in agricultural output and productivity.

She added that continued efforts are required to advance the started development and achieve food sovereignty, and that public participation and cooperation in the region should be strengthened this year.
