Havana Times has announced the return of its annual photo contest for its 15th edition, inviting amateur and professional photographers to capture unique moments from Latin America and the Caribbean. The contest features cash prizes and six thematic categories. Submissions are open until September 15, 2026.
Havana Times, an independent publication based in Cuba, has relaunched its popular photo contest to mark its 15th edition. Curated by Axel Saenz, the event seeks images that capture the diversity and vibrancy of the region, allowing participants of all ages and nationalities to submit up to three photos per category.
The categories are Food, Movement, Transportation, Resistance, Company, and Colors. Photos must have been taken anywhere in Latin America or the Caribbean, regardless of when, and submitted as files no larger than 3 MB, without watermarks. Each image needs numbering and a short caption in a separate text document.
Submissions go to axelsaenz@havanatimes.org, with a copy to editor@havanatimes.org, and the deadline is September 15, 2026. A jury of 10 to 15 members, including photographers, writers, and invited readers from various countries, will select semifinalists and finalists, whose works will be published on the Havana Times website.
Winners in each category will receive US$100, while special mentions get certificates. Prizes will be delivered via agreed methods, and results announced by November 15, 2026 at the latest. By participating, authors agree that their photos may be archived and used on Havana Times platforms, with proper credit.
The contest has showcased regional talents since 2009, with galleries from past editions available online for inspiration.
