The Hawassa half marathon race, organized under the slogan “Clean Ethiopia,” was held in Addis Ababa on February 1, 2018, by Fana Media Corporation. In the women's category, athlete Bethlehem Asmare claimed first place with a time of 1 hour, 11 minutes, and 35 seconds. Second and third places went to athletes Tinebeb Negga and Yatenet Koremshe, respectively.
In the men's race, athlete Semachew Walde secured victory in 1 hour, 3 minutes, and 7 seconds. Athletes Getachew Kidane and Sultan Abdela finished second and third. The event is designed to highlight tourism attractions around Hawassa and build a healthier community, with expectations of significant contributions in these areas.
