Saber Interactive has announced a Steam demo for John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando, set to release on February 19, just weeks before the full game launches. The demo accompanies a new gameplay trailer showcasing the title’s chaotic action. Developed by the studio behind Evil Dead: The Game, the co-op shooter draws on a horror-infused sci-fi premise.
Saber Interactive, known for titles like Evil Dead: The Game and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, as well as ports of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Halo: The Master Chief Collection, revealed the demo details alongside a fresh gameplay overview trailer. The trailer highlights the game’s intense atmosphere and fast-paced combat against undead hordes.
John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando was first announced at The Game Awards 2025. In the game, players navigate a near-future world ravaged by a failed experiment to tap the Earth’s core, unleashing the Sludge God. This entity floods the planet with sludge and mutates humans into monsters. A scientist counters the disaster by assembling the Toxic Commandos, a team of affordable mercenaries, after top-tier hires prove too costly.
Gameplay involves selecting a commando class suited to one’s style and piloting a favored vehicle to battle the Sludge God’s forces. The title supports full crossplay, enabling PC and console players to collaborate in saving the world.
The full release arrives on March 12 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. The demo offers an early taste of the co-op experience, building anticipation for the launch.
