Kentucky man charged with DUI after crashing car into ramen shop

A 29-year-old man in Louisville, Kentucky, allegedly drove his car into a ramen restaurant, injuring no one but damaging the building, before attempting to flee the scene. Alexis Calvillo faces multiple charges including DUI and terroristic threatening after police say he threatened officers and showed signs of intoxication. The incident occurred on February 28 at Kiwami Ramen.

On the night of February 28, Alexis Calvillo, 29, allegedly crashed his vehicle into the side of Kiwami Ramen in Louisville, Kentucky. According to police reports, the impact tore off the front of his car and struck a table occupied by four people, one of whom was pregnant. No staff or patrons were harmed, but the collision caused significant damage to the building, leading to its temporary closure.

Calvillo exited the vehicle and began walking away from the scene. When Louisville Metro Police officers attempted to detain him, he reportedly said, "I'm going to kill you," and continued making threats while slurring his words. Officers noted a strong odor of alcohol on him. A search of the car revealed an open beer bottle on the passenger-side floorboard.

Calvillo was arrested and charged with DUI, four counts of wanton endangerment, leaving the scene of an accident, criminal mischief, resisting arrest, terroristic threatening, and additional vehicle-related offenses. He remains in custody at the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections with bail set at $7,500. His next court appearance is scheduled for March 10.

The restaurant owners confirmed that the business is closed while repairs are underway. Local support has been called for to aid the staff during the closure.
