PDI officers arrested Nelson Haase Mazzei on Saturday morning, the last person convicted in the kidnapping and homicide of Víctor Jara and Littré Quiroga. The capture followed an order from judge Paola Plaza.
Nelson Haase Mazzei, a former army officer, was arrested by the Policía de Investigaciones on Saturday morning. The order came from visiting judge Paola Plaza of the Santiago Court of Appeals.
Haase Mazzei had been sentenced to 15 years and one day in prison as the perpetrator of the homicides and 10 years and one day for the qualified kidnappings. The sentence was finalized in 2023 and he had remained at large since then.
Víctor Jara and Littré Quiroga were detained days after the September 11, 1973 coup. Both were tortured and killed at what was then called Estadio Chile.
