Spain claimed its second World Cup title with a 1-0 victory over Argentina in the 2026 final played in New Jersey.
The decisive goal came from Ferran Torres in the 105th minute of extra time. The strike followed a cross by Pedro Porro that Nico Williams headed back for Torres to finish.
Spain controlled the match with 80 percent possession and numerical superiority after Enzo Fernández was sent off for a second yellow card. Argentina managed only two shots on target throughout the game, none until the 119th minute.
Rodri was named the tournament's best player. Unai Simón was the best goalkeeper and Pau Cubarsí the best young player. Coach Luis de la Fuente praised the team's collective effort.
The match took place at MetLife Stadium before 81,000 spectators and an estimated global audience of 1.8 billion people.
