A primary school in central Leksand faced a threat via social media on Friday morning, prompting a police operation. A boy in his mid-teens was detained on suspicion of unlawful threats but later released. The school continued operations with additional police presence.
On Friday morning, just before 8 a.m., police were alerted to a primary school on Noret in central Leksand following reports of threats on social media. Police spokesperson Christina Hallin stated that they received calls about threats against the school, and they acted on that information.
A person in the 15-year age range was detained on suspicion of unlawful threats. The arrest did not occur near the school, and police later announced that the individual was released due to a lack of grounds for continued detention. There is no information indicating that the school was evacuated or locked down.
The municipality called staff to an information meeting about the incident, and students were informed of what happened. Education chief Annica Sandy-Hedin said: "The danger is over. It was not an acute incident against the school, and now the police have said it is safe. We have had classes this morning as well but with extra police presence and monitoring of entrances and exits at the school. Operations continue for the rest of the day."
The threat was received at 7:51 a.m., according to police, leading to a major operation but no immediate danger was identified.
