The University of North Carolina track and field team wrapped up a busy three-meet weekend on February 7, 2026, with standout results across multiple events. Kalani Witherspoon highlighted the efforts by setting a personal record in the women's 60m hurdles at the Wisconsin Windy City Invitational in Chicago. Other athletes contributed solid finishes in hurdles, sprints, and field events at venues in Chicago, Blacksburg, and Winston-Salem.
The Tar Heels competed in three indoor meets over the weekend: the Wisconsin Windy City Invitational in Chicago, the VT Doc Hale Invitational in Blacksburg, and the JDL Camel City Sprints in Winston-Salem.
At the Windy City Invitational, Kalani Witherspoon shone in the women's 60m hurdles, achieving a personal record in both the semifinals and finals to secure third place with a time of 8.22 seconds. This performance marks the fifth-fastest time in Carolina history. Teammate Aaliyah Berry finished fourth at 8.28 seconds, while Tori Goodson placed seventh at 8.49 seconds. In the men's 200m, Donovan Calhoun clocked 21.57 seconds.
Over at the VT Doc Hale Invitational, Max Stakun-Pickering competed in the heptathlon but did not finish. He recorded third place in the 60m hurdles with 8.25 seconds and sixth in the pole vault at 4.35 meters (14 feet, 3.25 inches).
The JDL Camel City Sprints saw strong showings in the men's shot put, where Nse Uffort took fourth with a throw of 16.19 meters (53 feet, 1.5 inches), Cooper Williams placed fifth at 15.85 meters (52 feet), and Jason Noel finished 11th at 14.51 meters (47 feet, 7.25 inches).
These results cap a demanding weekend for the team, setting the stage for their next competition on February 13.
