Florida man threatens churro vendor with baseball bat

A 60-year-old Florida man has been arrested for aggravated assault after threatening a street vendor selling churros with an aluminum baseball bat. The incident occurred in early November 2025 in South Miami Heights, Miami. The vendor reported fearing for his life following the threats.

In early November 2025, near the corner of Southwest 195th Terrace and 127th Avenue in the South Miami Heights neighborhood of Miami, Florida, a verbal altercation broke out between a churro vendor and local resident Giraldo Caraballo, 60. The vendor was selling churros from a trailer when Caraballo approached him, leading to a dispute over the vendor's business, according to a criminal complaint and arrest affidavit from the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office.

The situation escalated when Caraballo retrieved an aluminum baseball bat from his Ford F-250 vehicle. He then allegedly held the bat in an aggressive manner and warned the vendor, "If you are here in fifteen minutes, I am going to kill you like a dog." The vendor told investigators he felt in fear for his life during this encounter.

Caraballo returned a short time later and reportedly said to the vendor, "Oh! You are still here? I am coming back." Fearing for his safety, the vendor filed a police report shortly after. Caraballo was arrested and taken to a local police station, where he was read his Miranda rights in Spanish via a form. He invoked his rights and declined to speak about the incident.

The charging document notes no officer-worn body camera footage of the arrest and does not explain the delay between the initial police involvement and formal charges by sheriff's deputies. Caraballo faces one count of aggravated assault. He was held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and posted a $5,000 bond the following day. As of the latest records, no court dates are scheduled in the case.

A 46-year-old Florida man faces federal charges for allegedly sending emails vowing to murder President Donald Trump. Markus Edward Hamlett, a former U.S. Marine Corps and Air Force member, sent the threats in May 2025 and made similar statements during a mental health hold. Authorities also linked him to prior incidents in California and an email to the CIA.

New York police said they arrested Gusmane Coulibaly, 27, on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026, accusing him of assaulting officers during a Washington Square Park confrontation earlier in the week in which two officers were treated at a hospital for facial lacerations. The arrest came amid a political dispute over whether the episode amounted to criminal conduct or a snowball fight that escalated.
