The Confederation of African Football has given President William Ruto its President's Outstanding Achievement Award 2025 for infrastructure work ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
The award was handed over on July 14 at State House in Nairobi by Football Kenya Federation President Hussein Mohammed. It recognises Ruto's role in building a new stadium and upgrading Kasarani and Nyayo Stadiums.
The Confederation of African Football president Patrice Motsepe selected Ruto for the honour because of preparations for the 2027 tournament. The award had first been given to Ruto in Rabat, Morocco, last November while he was absent.
Ruto joins other African leaders who have received the award, including the presidents of Tanzania and Uganda. The recognition focuses on investment in sports facilities and support for continental events.
Government efforts include new roads, rail links and medical upgrades near the venues to host fans and teams during the tournament.
