The CNTE held a megamarcha on July 16 in Mexico City to demand that the SEP and ISSSTE honor labor commitments.
CNTE sections 9, 10, 11 and 60 gathered from 9:00 a.m. near Metro Isabel la Católica station. The demonstrators marched toward the Dirección General de Recursos Humanos of the SEP at Isabel la Católica 165, colonia Centro, alcaldía Cuauhtémoc.
CNTE leader Pedro Hernández stated that authorities failed to hold meetings agreed for the week of June 22 to 26. “This has not happened, they have strung us along, no precise date has been set,” he said.
Pending demands include the permanent hiring of about 2,500 teachers, equalization of benefits such as the year-end bonus, and a working group with the ISSSTE. The SSC reported blockades on avenida Isabel la Católica starting at 10:00 a.m.
