The Egyptian Organization for Standardization and Quality (EOS), under Egypt’s Ministry of Industry, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Saudi Tabseer to advance regional collaboration in conformity assessment, training, and environmental sustainability services. EOS Chairperson Khaled Soufi emphasized that this agreement supports the Ministry’s efforts to strengthen Arab partnerships in quality infrastructure and standardisation. He highlighted the need for tighter coordination among regional standards and conformity assessment bodies, as well as greater private sector involvement to streamline trade and boost product competitiveness in regional and global markets.

Soufi noted that EOS is progressing toward establishing itself as a regional hub for excellence in standardisation and conformity assessment. The organization is expanding its sustainability services, such as carbon and water footprint measurements, environmental product declarations (EPDs), and life cycle assessments (LCA). These initiatives aim to aid Egypt’s shift to a green economy and enhance access for Egyptian exports to international markets.

Mansour AlQahtani, CEO of Tabseer, called the partnership a strategic move to foster technical integration and expertise sharing in inspection, conformity assessment, and sustainability solutions. He explained that Tabseer seeks to expand its regional presence through such institutional ties, promoting industrial growth and helping companies meet technical and regulatory demands across markets.

The MoU covers cooperation on issuing product conformity certificates under Saudi Arabia’s SABER system and procedures for the Saudi Quality Mark. It also includes joint training programs, participation in local and international events, and qualification services for carbon and water footprint certifications. Furthermore, the agreement features awareness campaigns to assist small and medium-sized enterprises in adhering to quality standards, thereby improving their competitiveness and supporting regional integration in quality infrastructure and sustainable industrial development.
