Senator Gerardo Fernández Noroña reiterated his criticisms against Uruapan mayor Grecia Quiroz in a video posted on social media.
The Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Power of Michoacán unanimously ruled that Noroña committed gender-based political violence by calling Quiroz fascist and stating that her ambition had been awakened.
In response, the Morena legislator challenged the magistrates to publicly explain the legal basis of the sentence and maintained that his statements do not constitute such violence.
Noroña accused Quiroz of seizing the Congress of Michoacán with violence months later and noted that she was declared persona non grata for her fascist policies, adding that she aspires to the governorship of the state.
