Mercedes González testified Friday as investigated before Judge Santiago Pedraz at the Audiencia Nacional. She denied any link between her meetings with Leire Díez and the opening of internal probes on UCO leaks.
The director general of the Guardia Civil stated that Leire Díez “has nothing to do” with the three internal probes opened after media reports. “If you take the timeline, it does not fit even with a hammer”, she replied to her lawyer regarding the alleged influence of the former PSOE member.
González presented herself as a victim of Santos Cerdán. “There are published articles on the list of Santos Cerdán’s victims and one of them is me”, she declared. She added she never had any relation with the former PSOE number three and would not have received Díez if she acted on his behalf.
The internal investigations were justified by concrete facts, according to the director, such as the leak of emails from Pedro Sánchez’s family among more than 10,000 messages seized by the UCO. The three cases were archived without sanctions.
