Ethiopia's Lemat Tirufat program, started by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, has delivered measurable gains in milk, fish, poultry and honey production.
The program began in 2015 EC on the initiative of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and links farmers, pastoralists and consumers. Milk production rose from 7.1 billion liters to 15.2 billion liters.
Fish output increased from 78,000 tons to 307,000 tons. Chick distribution grew from 26 million to 184 million. This year alone 428,000 tons of honey were collected.
The program focuses on food security and higher household incomes. Data reported from Addis Ababa show Ethiopia is making better use of its natural resources.
