A man was sent to prison in Íquira, Huila, for sexual abuses committed against family members over twelve years, from 2013 to 2025. The victims, tired of the assaults and threats, decided to report him recently. The arrested man faces charges for crimes such as violent and abusive carnal access with minors under 14 years old.
In the municipality of Íquira, Huila, authorities arrested a man accused of serious sexual crimes against members of his own family nucleus. The abuses occurred repeatedly between 2013 and 2025, according to the investigation by the Fiscalía and the National Police. The aggressor took advantage of family trust, deception, psychological manipulation, and threats to violate the victims' integrity.
The complaints were filed in Neiva after the victims broke their silence, fed up with the ongoing abuses. "The victims, tired of the continuous abuses, decided to break the silence," stated Colonel Javier Duarte, commander of the Police in Huila. The arrest took place in the El Centro neighborhood of Íquira by the Criminal Investigation Section (Sijin).
During the preliminary hearings, a control of guarantees judge imposed a prison assurance measure on the accused for the crimes of violent carnal access, sexual acts, and abusive carnal access with a minor under 14 years old. Colonel Duarte noted that the man could face a sentence exceeding 50 years in prison. Additionally, he has another judicial process in the trial stage for similar acts against victims from the same family environment, nearing a verdict.
The Huila Police reaffirm their commitment to protecting children, girls, adolescents, and women, activating care routes and the support of the Purple Patrol. They urge the community to report any sexual violence promptly.
