STF minister Alexandre de Moraes banned Senator Flávio Bolsonaro from visiting his father, former President Jair Bolsonaro, for 90 days on Monday (13), following the release of a letter on social media.
The decision came after Flávio read a letter from Jair Bolsonaro live on Saturday (11) in which the former president named his son as his presidential pre-candidate. Moraes ruled that the disclosure violated restrictions imposed on the ex-president, who is serving house arrest.
Flávio stated that the measure aims to interfere in the elections and called the ban disproportionate. He said he would only be able to resume visits after the first round and questioned the coincidence of the 90-day period.
Senator Damares Alves defended Michelle Bolsonaro and reiterated that Flávio remains her pre-candidate. Deputy Lindbergh Farias rejected comparisons with letters from Lula during his imprisonment, stating that the judicial restrictions differ.
