Opposition leaders staged a protest near the Prime Minister's residence in New Delhi on Tuesday demanding accountability on NEET paper leaks and police action against students.
Opposition leaders including Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Akhilesh Yadav sat on protest at Lok Kalyan Marg. They demanded the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, a parliamentary debate and withdrawal of cases against students.
Government attempts at talks failed. Minister of State Jitendra Singh assured discussion but Rahul Gandhi added the resignation condition. Police later detained the leaders.
Dharmendra Pradhan accused Rahul Gandhi of using students for political purposes. Rahul Gandhi called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to apologise and sought resignations of Amit Shah and Pradhan. Proceedings in both Houses of Parliament were disrupted.
