Sportime, a leading operator of sports facilities in the New York area, has introduced three new indoor padel courts at its Randall’s Island location. The launch, announced on March 3, 2026, marks the company’s first foray into padel and aims to provide top-quality playing and learning opportunities. The courts are designed to offer New York City’s best padel experience.
Sportime announced the opening of three indoor padel courts at its flagship Randall’s Island facility, a 260,000 square foot site in New York City. This addition, unveiled on March 3, 2026, represents Sportime’s initial investment in padel, a racket sport gaining popularity in the region. The courts feature MejorSet construction, advanced lighting, and 40-foot ceiling heights within a 50,000 square foot conditioned building, part of a recent expansion that includes a tennis center, clubhouse, viewing lounges, and restrooms.
Ben Schlansky, Sportime’s chief operating officer and senior managing director for the Randall’s Island site, highlighted the facility’s quality. “We have created an exceptional environment for Padel in New York City,” Schlansky said. He added that the goal is to deliver high-quality facilities, coaching, and programs at competitive prices, similar to the company’s tennis offerings.
Programming begins immediately with group and private lessons, leagues, social play, tournaments, and game-arranging for all ages and skill levels. Grand opening events include introductory clinics, rating sessions, and racket demonstrations. Certified padel coaches will lead weekly tournaments and structured play sessions to foster skill development and competition.
Membership at Sportime Randall’s Island provides benefits such as discounted court time, priority booking, and access to 29 tennis courts, locker rooms, a training center, free parking, and an on-site café. The courts are open to everyone, though non-members pay standard rates.
Padel’s rise in the United States has been notable, with the United States Padel Association noting over 100,000 amateur players and participation nearly doubling since 2020. New York is becoming a key market for the sport. Schlansky emphasized building a strong community: “We are launching Padel at our Flagship club on Randall’s Island to include a full slate of playing and learning opportunities offered from day one.”
Sportime, founded in 1994, operates 20 clubs across the Tri-State area, offering tennis, pickleball, and other activities at 192 tennis courts and 131 pickleball courts.
