An outage in Ubisoft Connect on Saturday, July 11, prevented many PC players from launching Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced despite the game's advertised offline mode.
Players reported the issue starting early that morning on Steam forums and Reddit. The outage lasted about an hour and affected only legitimate copies, as pirated versions without the Ubisoft Connect requirement continued to work.
The game's FAQ states a one-time internet connection is needed to download, after which the main campaign is playable offline. However, the Ubisoft Connect downtime disabled this functionality.
A Reddit thread on the problem gained over 15,000 upvotes. Ubisoft has not addressed the outage on social channels or forum threads.
The launch also faced criticism over microtransactions totaling around £75 for the £49.99 game, though Ubisoft stated the standard edition provides the full experience.
